Compliance will be overseen by MCD's engineering department, and any breach may attract penalties or suspension of work permits. The decision comes after a series of incidents where inadequate safety measures during road works caused injuries and traffic snarls, prompting the corporation to tighten its regulatory framework. Officials said the mandatory norms aim to protect both commuters and workers and will be enforced with immediate effect.
