The Delhi government’s electric‑vehicle incentive programme has attracted 5,678 applications, leading to the release of Rs 4.8 crore in subsidies.
The Delhi administration announced that its electric‑vehicle (EV) incentive scheme has drawn 5,678 applications from individuals and businesses seeking financial support. Under the policy, eligible applicants can receive subsidies for the purchase of electric two‑wheelers, three‑wheelers and passenger cars, as part of the capital’s push toward cleaner mobility.
In response to the volume of requests, the government has released Rs 4.8 crore in incentives this fiscal year. The funds are being disbursed through the Department of Transport, which will verify eligibility and transfer the subsidies directly to the approved recipients.
Officials said the strong response reflects growing consumer interest in EVs and aligns with Delhi’s broader climate goals, including a target to have 25 percent of new vehicle registrations be electric by 2025. The department will continue to monitor applications and may consider additional funding if demand remains high.
The scheme, launched last year, also offers benefits such as reduced registration fees and access to dedicated charging infrastructure, aiming to make electric mobility more affordable for city residents.
