Barapullah Phase III of the Delhi Metro has commenced operations today, linking the western suburbs to the city’s core and easing traffic on the Ring Road.
The Delhi Metro’s Barapullah Phase III, a 3.5‑km extension, began service on Monday, connecting the Barapullah area to the existing Blue Line at Rajiv Chowk. The new stretch features a single elevated station and a 1.2‑km viaduct over the Ring Road.
Commuters will benefit from reduced travel times to the city’s business districts, with the extension expected to divert traffic from the congested Ring Road. According to officials, the line will run every 4–5 minutes during peak hours.
Metro officials said the project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget, after a series of delays caused by land acquisition issues. The opening ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who highlighted the project’s role in improving urban mobility.
