The National Air Quality Index for Delhi has risen into the unhealthy bracket, prompting health advisories, while Mumbai experiences a brief improvement.

The National Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi has climbed into the unhealthy range, according to the latest readings reported by NDTV. The current AQI value exceeds the safe threshold, signalling elevated concentrations of particulate matter and other pollutants in the capital's atmosphere.

Delhi authorities have issued health advisories urging residents to limit outdoor activities, especially for children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions. Citizens are advised to wear N95 or equivalent masks when venturing outside and to keep windows closed where possible.

Experts note that the spike is driven by a mix of high vehicular emissions, industrial output and weather patterns that trap pollutants close to the ground. Continuous monitoring will determine whether the AQI remains in the unhealthy band or improves in the coming days.

The city’s pollution control board has pledged to intensify real‑time monitoring and enforce stricter emission norms, while urging the public to adopt cleaner commuting options.
