The Delhi Union Territory administration razed illegal constructions in the Ram Darbar area and detained 13 individuals alleged to be involved in criminal activities.
Delhi's Union Territory officials carried out a demolition drive on Monday, tearing down a series of unauthorised structures that had been erected in the Ram Darbar neighbourhood. The operation, overseen by the municipal corporation, targeted makeshift shops and residential units that were built without any legal clearance.
Police and municipal workers used heavy machinery to bring down the buildings, citing violations of zoning rules and safety concerns.
In the same sweep, law‑enforcement agencies apprehended 13 individuals who are suspected of being connected to various criminal cases, according to a statement from the Delhi Police. The detainees are being questioned for alleged involvement in offences ranging from illegal land occupation to other undisclosed crimes.
Authorities said the demolition is part of a broader effort to curb illegal construction and curb crime in the capital, and they will continue monitoring the area to prevent re‑erection of unauthorised structures.
