The Delhi government has announced plans to install 300 police posts under existing flyovers and within pedestrian subways to enhance security and curb crime.

The Delhi government has unveiled a new security initiative that will see 300 police posts installed beneath existing flyovers and inside pedestrian subways across the city.

The plan, announced by the municipal authorities, aims to provide a visible police presence in high‑traffic areas and to improve surveillance in places that are often crowded and difficult to monitor.

Officials say the posts will be equipped with CCTV cameras and will operate 24/7, helping to deter petty theft, vandalism and other crimes that frequently occur in open spaces.

Construction is expected to begin in the next few months, with the first batch of posts slated for completion by the end of the year. The project will be carried out in phases, prioritising flyovers and subways that have reported the highest incidents of crime.

Delhi Police Commissioner Arvind Kumar expressed confidence that the initiative will strengthen law‑enforcement visibility and reassure commuters about their safety.
