From November 1, Delhi will prohibit construction activities and the entry of vehicles not registered in the capital that do not meet BS‑VI emission standards.

The Delhi government has issued an order that will take effect on 1 November, barring all construction work within the National Capital Territory and restricting the entry of vehicles that are not registered in Delhi and fail to meet the BS‑VI emission norm.

The construction ban aims to curb dust and particulate matter generated by building sites, which contribute significantly to the city’s air‑quality problems, especially during the winter season.

Simultaneously, traffic police will enforce a ban on non‑Delhi‑registered vehicles that do not comply with BS‑VI standards. Such vehicles will be turned away at checkpoints and may be subject to fines for violating the rule.

Officials say the dual measures are part of a broader strategy to improve Delhi’s air quality ahead of the expected rise in pollution levels during the colder months.

The administration has pledged regular monitoring and will issue penalties to violators, though exact fine amounts have not been disclosed.
