The Delhi government has raised Rs 25,000 crore to fund its capital works after obtaining borrowing clearance, according to a statement by senior official Rekha Gupta.
Delhi’s administration announced that it has secured a financing package of Rs 25,000 crore to support a range of capital infrastructure projects across the city. The funds become available following formal clearance from the central borrowing authority, which permits the state to raise debt for development purposes.
The capital works plan includes upgrades to roads, water supply systems, public transport facilities and other civic amenities aimed at improving urban livability. Officials said the borrowing clearance removes a major bottleneck, allowing the government to move ahead with detailed project reports and tendering.
Rekha Gupta, a senior spokesperson for the Delhi government, confirmed that the raised amount will be channeled through a mix of market loans and government bonds, adhering to fiscal prudence guidelines. The move is expected to generate employment and stimulate ancillary industries in the region.
While the exact timeline for disbursement was not disclosed, the administration has pledged regular monitoring to ensure that the funds are utilized efficiently and that project milestones are met on schedule.
