The Delhi Public Works Department has formed inspection panels to check the functionality of 200 anti‑smog guns before the onset of winter.
The Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) announced the creation of dedicated inspection panels to examine 200 anti‑smog guns installed across the city. The panels are tasked with conducting thorough checks before the winter season, when air‑quality concerns typically intensify.
Officials said the inspections will verify that each unit is operational, properly calibrated and ready to be deployed in areas prone to high particulate matter levels. The move is part of the city's broader winter‑readiness plan aimed at mitigating the seasonal rise in smog.
The PWD expects the inspections to be completed well before the peak winter months, allowing any necessary maintenance or repairs to be carried out without delay. By ensuring the anti‑smog guns are functional, the department hopes to provide an additional layer of support to existing pollution‑control measures.
The initiative reflects Delhi's ongoing efforts to address air‑quality challenges through both preventive and reactive strategies, especially as the city prepares for historically severe winter haze.
