Police removed protestors demanding education reforms and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from Jantar Mantar in Delhi, clearing the stage and camps ahead of the planned Parliament march.
On Thursday morning, Delhi police cleared the historic Jantar Mantar square of protestors demanding sweeping changes to the education system and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The removal involved dismantling a makeshift stage and several temporary camps that had been set up by the demonstrators.
The protest, which had begun at 6:30 a.m., drew a large crowd of students, teachers and activists who were rallying for reforms in the national curriculum and increased funding for schools. Their primary demand was the resignation of the minister, whom they accused of neglecting educational priorities.
Security forces carried out the eviction in a coordinated effort, citing the need to restore order and prepare the site for the upcoming Parliament march. The stage and tents were taken down, and the protest area was cleared of all temporary structures.
Police officials said the removal was a prelude to the planned march to Parliament, which is scheduled to take place later in the day. Organisers of the march have not yet confirmed whether the protestors will reassemble at a different location or join the march from the main route.
