Protesters moved across Connaught Place, Janpath, RK Ashram Metro and Ashok Road while police pursued them throughout the day, leading to a prolonged standoff in the capital.
A day‑long confrontation unfolded on Delhi's main thoroughfares as demonstrators gathered in multiple groups. Starting from Connaught Place, the protesters advanced along Janpath, later converging near the RK Ashram Metro station before moving towards the General Post Office and Ashok Road.
Police units responded by deploying rapid‑response teams, attempting to detain participants at each location. The chase resulted in intermittent clashes, with officers using crowd‑control measures while protesters tried to evade capture.
Authorities have not released exact figures on the number of arrests or injuries, but the sustained police presence kept the demonstrations from escalating further. The standoff highlighted the heightened tension between civic activists and law‑enforcement agencies in the capital.
The situation remains fluid, with officials monitoring the streets for any resurgence of unrest as the day draws to a close.
