During recent protests, Delhi police refuted allegations of firing, stating they were based on outdated footage, and deployed cyber experts to monitor social media for misleading content.

Delhi police were on duty across the city to maintain law and order during the protests that took place recently. Personnel were deployed at key locations to prevent any untoward incident.

Amid the demonstrations, certain social media posts claimed that police had opened fire on protesters. The police department said these claims were unfounded and originated from old video clips being recirculated online.

To counter the spread of misinformation, cyber experts from the police’s special unit were kept on alert throughout the day. They tracked posts, identified outdated footage and issued clarifications to prevent panic.

Officials added that continuous monitoring of digital platforms would remain in place as long as the situation required, ensuring that only verified information reaches the public.
