Delhi’s crime branch has taken into custody 48‑year‑old Firuz Khwaja of Bihar, accused of killing a man and crushing his head in retaliation for his brother’s suicide, 24 years after the incident.
The Delhi Police crime branch announced the arrest of 48‑year‑old Firuz Khwaja, also known as Khwaja or Khaje, a resident of Bihar. He was taken into custody on Wednesday after a 24‑year‑old cold case was reopened and linked to him.
According to police records, Khwaja is alleged to have murdered a man and brutally crushed the victim’s head as an act of vengeance for his brother’s suicide. The killing took place more than two decades ago, and the case remained unsolved until recent investigative breakthroughs.
Police officials said the arrest was the result of renewed forensic and witness verification work. They have not disclosed the exact location of the original crime, but confirmed that the investigation was led by Delhi’s crime branch. Khwaja is currently being held for further questioning and will face trial for murder and related charges.
