Cyber cell officers in Delhi detained 24‑year‑old Nadeem Ahmad Amin after he used artificial‑intelligence tools to create a fabricated video that falsely implicated ACP Vivek Bhagat in misconduct.

Delhi Police's cyber cell announced the arrest of Nadeem Ahmad Amin, 24, from the New Delhi district for producing an artificial‑intelligence based deepfake that falsely accused Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivek Bhagat of wrongdoing. The video, which circulated on mobile phones, portrayed the senior officer in a compromising scenario that was later proven to be fabricated.

Investigators traced the source to Amin's smartphone, recovered the file and identified the use of AI‑driven editing software. The suspect, a dropout after the 10th grade, is alleged to have deliberately spread the misinformation to tarnish the officer's reputation.

The case has been registered under the Information Technology Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for cyber defamation and false information. Authorities have seized the phone and are conducting a forensic analysis to determine if additional victims were targeted.

A police spokesperson emphasized that the misuse of emerging AI technology for malicious purposes will be met with strict legal action, underscoring the department's commitment to curbing digital fraud and protecting the integrity of law‑enforcement officials.
