Delhi, September 25 (HT) – A non‑government organization based in the capital organised a consultation session on Thursday to examine the growing spectrum of online harms that children encounter. The gathering brought together child‑rights activists, cyber‑safety experts, educators, and representatives from law‑enforcement agencies to map emerging threats such as cyber‑bullying, exposure to inappropriate content, and data‑privacy breaches.
Participants reviewed recent research indicating an uptick in digital abuse cases among school‑age users and highlighted gaps in existing regulatory frameworks. The NGO called for a coordinated response that includes stronger parental guidance tools, updated school curricula on safe internet use, and clearer legal provisions to hold perpetrators accountable.
The consultation concluded with a set of actionable recommendations to be submitted to the Delhi government and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, aiming to strengthen protective measures for minors navigating the online environment.
