The Delhi cabinet has approved a new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy, setting deadlines for the complete transition to electric vehicles for autos and two-wheelers.
The Delhi government has announced a significant step towards a greener transport system with the approval of its new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy. Under the new regulations, the sale of new auto-rickshaws will be exclusively electric starting from 2027.
Following the auto-rickshaw mandate, the policy also aims to phase out traditional fuel-powered two-wheelers. By 2028, all new sales of two-wheelers in the national capital are expected to be electric.
This policy initiative underscores Delhi's commitment to reducing vehicular emissions and combating air pollution, a persistent challenge in the city. The move is anticipated to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility solutions among commuters and delivery services.
