The government has cleared the 50‑km elevated expressway that will link Delhi to the upcoming Jewar Airport, promising a one‑hour travel time.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has given the final clearance for a 50‑kilometre elevated expressway that will connect Delhi with the under‑construction Jewar Airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The approval follows a series of feasibility studies and environmental clearances completed over the past year.
Designed as a fully elevated, six‑lane corridor, the expressway aims to cut travel time between the capital and the new airport to roughly sixty minutes, a significant reduction compared with existing routes that involve congested arterial roads.
Officials said the project will commence soon after the nod, with construction work planned to progress in phases to minimise disruption. The fast‑track link is expected to enhance regional connectivity, support the airport’s passenger traffic, and stimulate economic activity in the surrounding areas.
