The Delhi High Court has directed the central and Delhi governments, along with Delhi University, to submit their response to a petition seeking hostel accommodation in every DU college, with the next hearing set for the 25th.

In a recent ruling, the Delhi High Court sought answers from the Union government, the Delhi administration and Delhi University regarding a petition that demands hostel facilities across all university colleges.
The petition, filed by student groups, argues that the lack of residential accommodation hampers access to higher education for students from distant regions and those from economically weaker sections.
The court has asked the three authorities to file their written responses before the next hearing, which is scheduled for the 25th of this month.
Legal experts note that the order could prompt policy revisions, as providing hostels in every college would require substantial infrastructure investment and coordination among the stakeholders.
