Delhi police have registered 57 First Information Reports (FIRs) related to anti-CEC protests, with more than ten cases alleging assaults on police officers. The majority of the FIRs cite violations of group gathering restrictions under Section 163 of the BNSS.

Delhi Police have filed 57 First Information Reports (FIRs) following the anti-CEC protests that took place in the capital last month. Over ten of the reports specifically mention assaults on police personnel during the demonstrations.

The remaining FIRs largely cite violations of the group gathering restrictions imposed under Section 163 of the BNSS, which limits public assemblies in the city. The Delhi Crime Branch has been tasked with investigating all 57 cases.

Police officials said that the protests were organized by groups opposed to the Central Election Commission’s recent directives. They added that the investigations will focus on identifying the individuals responsible for the assaults and any breaches of the assembly ban.

The Delhi Police have urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and to report any information that could help bring the perpetrators to justice.
