Delhi's transport authorities announced upgrades at 12 key junctions, a 20% traffic diversion and improvements at six metro stations to ease congestion for daily commuters.
The city’s transport department has rolled out a plan to upgrade twelve major traffic junctions across Delhi, aiming to smooth vehicle flow during peak hours. As part of the same initiative, authorities will divert roughly one‑fifth of the current traffic to alternate routes, reducing pressure on the most congested corridors.
In parallel, six metro stations will undergo structural and service upgrades, including platform extensions, improved lighting and better passenger information systems. These enhancements are expected to cut boarding times and increase overall capacity on the network.
Officials said the combined measures are projected to cut average commute times by several minutes and provide immediate relief to the millions who travel daily by road and rail. The upgrades are scheduled to begin next week and will be completed in phases to minimise disruption.
