Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has sanctioned 2,345 new positions in the Delhi Fire Service to enhance emergency response capabilities.
The Delhi government announced on Monday that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved the creation of 2,345 new posts in the Delhi Fire Service.
The expansion covers fire prevention, rescue operations and emergency medical response units across the capital. Officials say the new positions will help reduce response times and improve coverage in densely populated areas.
The decision follows a review of the service’s staffing levels, which identified a shortfall of more than 2,000 positions. The new hires are expected to be recruited over the next 12 months.
The government has outlined a phased implementation plan, with priority given to high‑risk zones and upcoming public events. The move is part of a broader effort to strengthen public safety infrastructure in Delhi.
