The Damodar ropeway in Maher, Madhya Pradesh, will remain closed for 11 days as authorities prepare for the upcoming Navratri fair.

The state tourism department announced that the Damodar ropeway in Maher will be non‑operational for the next eleven days. The suspension starts immediately and is intended to facilitate safety checks and infrastructure work ahead of the Navratri celebrations.

Navratri attracts large numbers of pilgrims and tourists to the region, and the ropeway is a popular means of reaching the hilltop shrine. Officials said the temporary closure will help ensure that the facility is fully ready to handle the expected surge in visitors once the festival begins.

The ropeway is expected to reopen shortly after the eleventh day, coinciding with the start of the Navratri fair. Visitors are advised to use alternative transport options in the meantime.
