AIIMS Bhopal will receive a Rs 30 crore Da Vinci Robot 4.0 within a month, allowing robotic procedures for prostate, kidney and bladder cancers.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal is set to launch robotic surgery services using the Da Vinci Robot 4.0, a system valued at roughly Rs 30 crore. The high‑precision platform is expected to arrive at the hospital within the next thirty days, marking a significant upgrade in the city’s surgical capabilities.

Initial procedures slated for the first phase include operations for prostate cancer, kidney tumours and bladder cancer. These specialties were chosen because they benefit most from the robot’s enhanced dexterity and three‑dimensional visualisation, which can reduce operative time and improve patient recovery.

Health officials say the introduction of the Da Vinci system will expand treatment options for patients in central India, reducing the need to travel to metropolitan centres for such advanced care. Training for surgeons and support staff is already underway to ensure the technology is deployed safely and efficiently.

The move aligns with the government’s broader push to modernise public hospitals with cutting‑edge medical equipment, aiming to raise the overall standard of healthcare delivery across the country.
