Meteorological agencies say Cyclone Arnab is altering its trajectory, with five districts in Odisha now expected to face the strongest winds and heavy rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that Cyclone Arnab, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, is repeatedly changing its path as it moves westward toward the Indian coastline. Current forecasts show the system intensifying into a severe cyclonic storm before making landfall along Odisha's eastern seaboard.

Five districts – Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Puri – have been identified as the most vulnerable to the cyclone's core. Residents in these areas can expect sustained winds of 120-140 km/h, torrential rainfall exceeding 200 mm, and a high risk of storm surges along low‑lying coastal stretches.

State authorities have activated emergency response teams, ordered pre‑emptive evacuations in coastal hamlets, and set up relief shelters equipped with food, water and medical kits. The Odisha Disaster Management Authority urges people to stay indoors, heed official warnings and avoid travel until the cyclone weakens.

The IMD will continue to issue updates every three hours as Arnab's trajectory evolves, and officials remain on high alert to mitigate any loss of life or property.
