The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across Odisha as Cyclone Arnab strengthens into a very severe cyclonic storm.

The cyclone is expected to intensify further before making landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast near Yanam on the forenoon of October 28.

In response, 225 fire service teams and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel have been deployed to key locations in Odisha to support preparedness and potential rescue operations.

Officials are urging residents in vulnerable districts to remain indoors, secure property, and follow evacuation orders if issued.
