The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in Jharkhand for the next three days as Cyclone Arnab approaches the eastern coast.

Cyclone Arnab, currently tracking along the Bay of Bengal, is expected to make landfall near the eastern coast of India within the next 48 hours. The system has intensified to a severe cyclonic storm, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a heavy rain warning for the state of Jharkhand.

The IMD forecast predicts sustained rainfall of 150–200 mm per day over Jharkhand, with the possibility of localized flooding in low‑lying districts. Authorities in the state have urged residents to stay indoors and to secure loose objects that could become hazardous in strong winds.

Agricultural communities are particularly concerned, as heavy rains could damage crops and disrupt irrigation schedules. Transport officials have advised caution on highways and rail routes, especially in areas prone to waterlogging.

The IMD has also released a detailed weather bulletin outlining expected wind speeds, rainfall intensity, and potential storm surge zones. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from local media and the IMD’s official website for real‑time advisories.
