In Jaipur’s Vaishali Nagar police jurisdiction, a 74‑year‑old senior was threatened with a digital arrest for ten days and forced to pay ₹1.74 crore after scammers pretended to be law‑enforcement officials.

A senior citizen aged 74 was targeted by a group of cyber fraudsters operating in the Vaishali Nagar police area of Jaipur. The perpetrators pretended to be police officers and warned the victim that a "digital arrest" would be executed against him if he did not comply.

Over a span of roughly ten days, the fraudsters repeatedly threatened to seize the victim’s assets and to file a false arrest case, using the fear of a digital warrant to extract money. The victim, fearing legal repercussions, handed over a total of ₹1.74 crore to the impostors.

Local police have opened an investigation into the case, stating that the suspects used forged documents and fake police identification to lend credibility to their threats. Authorities have urged citizens to verify the authenticity of any police communication, especially those involving financial demands, and to report such incidents immediately.

The incident highlights a growing trend of cyber‑enabled scams that exploit the fear of digital legal action, prompting law‑enforcement agencies across Rajasthan to intensify public awareness campaigns.
