Cyber fraud in Bhopal: Scammers pose as CISF soldier and police officer to dupe women

In Bhopal, two women were targeted in separate cyber‑fraud cases where the perpetrators pretended to be a CISF personnel and a police officer respectively.
Bhopal police have reported two distinct cyber‑fraud incidents in which the fraudsters masqueraded as a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) soldier in one case and as a police officer in the other. Both perpetrators used online platforms to approach the victims, claiming official authority to gain their trust.
The first victim was approached by an individual claiming to be a CISF serviceman and was persuaded to make a payment for a purported rental arrangement. In the second case, a woman was contacted by someone presenting himself as a police officer, who allegedly threatened her with a drug‑related investigation unless she complied with his demands.
Local law enforcement has registered First Information Reports (FIRs) against the suspects and launched a cyber‑cell investigation to trace the digital footprints. Officials have warned the public to verify the identity of any person claiming official status, especially when financial transactions are involved.
The police have also urged citizens to report similar suspicious communications promptly, emphasizing that genuine CISF and police personnel do not request money or personal details through informal channels.
