The CPI(M) organised a resistance march in Tajpur, Samastipur, protesting the SIR scheme and demanding the reinstatement of eligible voters, while burning effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

A protest march organised by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) took place in Tajpur, a locality of Samastipur district, Bihar, to voice opposition against the State Implementation Review (SIR) scheme. Participants marched through the area, carrying banners and chanting slogans that criticised the central government’s policies.

The demonstrators also demanded that the names of eligible voters who had been omitted from the electoral roll be reinstated, urging authorities to update the list without delay. The demand was framed as a call for a fair and inclusive electoral process ahead of upcoming elections.

During the rally, effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar were set alight, a symbolic act meant to convey the protesters’ anger toward the policies they associate with the SIR programme.

Local police monitored the gathering but reported no major clashes. The march reflects growing political friction in Bihar over central schemes that opposition parties claim marginalise certain voter groups.

The CPI(M) reiterated its stance that any electoral reform must ensure that all eligible citizens are accurately reflected in the voter list, warning that exclusion could undermine democratic legitimacy.
