The Kerala High Court has directed the state government to expedite compensation payments for families affected by the recent landslide in Wayanad district.
The Kerala High Court, in a ruling issued on Thursday, has ordered the state government to accelerate the disbursement of compensation to families who lost homes and loved ones in the Wayanad landslide.
The landslide, which struck the western slopes of Wayanad on 12 March, claimed at least 20 lives and left dozens of families homeless. Victims have been waiting for months for the promised financial relief.
In its order, the court urged the government to clear all administrative hurdles and ensure that compensation reaches the affected households within the next 30 days, citing the urgency of restoring livelihoods and rebuilding communities.
