Police and BSF recovered counterfeit Indian rupee notes worth Rs 3,98,500 after a joint raid near the border village of Kalasia.

Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a coordinated search operation near the border hamlet of Kalasia in Punjab. During the raid, officials discovered counterfeit Indian currency packaged in yellow envelopes, amounting to Rs 3,98,500.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fake notes were delivered by an unmanned aerial vehicle, a method that raises concerns about cross‑border smuggling tactics. The seized currency was identified as forged Indian rupee notes, though the exact denomination mix was not disclosed.

Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Money‑Laundering Act. The incident underscores the growing challenge of illicit financial flows across the India‑Pakistan frontier and the need for heightened surveillance.

The BSF and local police have urged the public to report any suspicious aerial drops or unusual packages near border areas. Further forensic analysis of the counterfeit notes is underway to trace their origin.
