The Civic Trust Union (CoTU) has criticized the Manipur police for what it calls selective security measures following the recent Tokpa Naga incident, demanding a transparent review of the response.

The Tokpa Naga incident, which occurred in the western districts of Manipur, has drawn national attention due to the violent clashes that left several civilians injured.

In a statement released this week, the Civic Trust Union (CoTU) expressed concern that the police response appeared to be selective, focusing on certain areas while neglecting others that were equally affected.

CoTU demanded a comprehensive audit of the security deployment and called for an independent inquiry to ensure accountability and prevent future lapses.

The incident underscores the challenges of maintaining law and order in Manipur’s complex ethnic landscape, and the call for transparency comes amid growing public scrutiny of state security agencies.
