Cotton growers in Bhandar district blocked the Khundwa-Badoda State Highway on Tuesday, demanding fair prices after a sharp fall in market rates.
Cotton farmers from Bhandar district’s Anjad Agriculture Produce Market staged a protest on Tuesday afternoon, blocking the Khundwa-Badoda State Highway. The demonstrators, upset by a steep decline in cotton prices, demanded that authorities intervene to secure a fair market rate for their produce.
The protest, which lasted for about an hour and a half, caused significant traffic disruption on the highway, forcing commuters to detour and causing inconvenience to travelers. Local authorities responded by deploying police to manage the situation and restore traffic flow.
Farmers cited the recent price slump as a major concern, arguing that the current rates do not cover their production costs. They called on the state government to take immediate steps to regulate the cotton market and ensure a stable price for their crops.
