A constable posted at Sirhohi's Aburoad outpost in Jaisalmer was recovered dead from a canal after allegedly sending a video to his relatives before jumping.
Jaisalmer police recovered the body of Constable Anirudh Singh from a canal in the Mohangarh police jurisdiction on Tuesday. Singh was stationed at the Aburoad outpost in Sirhohi, a village in the district, when the incident occurred.
According to the police, a video was circulated among Singh's relatives in which he appeared to be preparing to jump into the water. His wife and in‑laws have alleged that he took his own life, citing personal grievances, though the exact motive remains under investigation.
The Jaisalmer police have opened a criminal probe into the circumstances surrounding the death. Officials said they are examining the video, interviewing family members, and reviewing any prior complaints or disciplinary records related to the constable.
Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play and have asked the public to come forward with any information that could assist the inquiry.
The case has drawn attention to the pressures faced by law‑enforcement personnel in remote postings, prompting calls for better mental‑health support within the force.
