Congress leader Rajendra Pal Gautam criticised BJP chief Nitin, calling the latter’s view on Biharis dismissive, in a recent political exchange.
Rajendra Pal Gautam, who heads the Congress party’s affairs in Uttar Pradesh, publicly rebuked BJP chief Nitin for remarks that he described as dismissive of the Bihari community. Gautam’s statement, "Poor Biharis don't know anything," was delivered during a press interaction where he sought to highlight perceived neglect of the region by the ruling party.
The Congress leader said the comment reflected a broader pattern of disregard for the concerns of people from Bihar, a state that contributes significantly to the migrant workforce in Uttar Pradesh. He urged the BJP to address the socioeconomic issues faced by Bihari migrants rather than resorting to derogatory remarks.
No official response from Nitin or the BJP has been recorded at the time of reporting. The exchange adds to the ongoing political discourse ahead of upcoming electoral contests in the state.
The incident was reported by The Times of India, which quoted Gautam’s exact words and noted the political tension between the two parties in the region.
