Congress senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge has called for a fresh round of assembly elections to be conducted using ballot papers, citing concerns over the current voting process.
Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leader of the Indian National Congress, publicly demanded that the upcoming assembly elections be re‑held using ballot papers instead of the electronic voting machines that have been used in recent polls.
In a statement released to the media, Kharge argued that ballot papers would enhance transparency and restore voter confidence, which he said had been eroded by allegations of technical glitches and alleged manipulation of electronic systems.
The call comes ahead of several state assembly elections scheduled for later this year, and the Congress party has previously raised concerns about the reliability of electronic voting machines. No official response from the Election Commission has been recorded as of now.
