Congress activists in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh staged a candle march and a symbolic puppet‑burning to protest the FIR lodged against Rahul Gandhi.
On a recent day in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, Congress workers organized two separate events to condemn a first‑information report filed against opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
The first event was a candle march, where participants walked through the town carrying lit candles, voicing solidarity with Gandhi and demanding the FIR be withdrawn.
Following the march, a second gathering featured the symbolic burning of a dummy figure representing the state government, which protesters labelled a "puppet" of the central administration.
Party officials said the demonstrations were meant to showcase Congress' resolve and to pressure authorities to drop the case; local police reported the gatherings remained peaceful with no arrests.
The FIR remains under investigation by law‑enforcement agencies.
