The Congress party won the Nagpur Legislative Council by‑election, beating the BJP and keeping the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition ahead with a 3‑2 majority in Maharashtra.
The Congress party secured a victory in the Nagpur Legislative Council by‑election, defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. The result was announced after counting concluded, confirming Congress as the winner in the constituency.
The win bolsters the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition’s position in the state, which now holds a 3‑2 lead in the Legislative Council across Maharashtra. This margin gives the MVA a modest edge in shaping council proceedings.
Political analysts note that the outcome reflects Congress’s continued relevance in urban pockets of the state, while the BJP faces setbacks in its bid to expand influence in Nagpur. The MVA is expected to leverage the advantage in upcoming council sessions.
