Congress state president Jitu Patwari used X to accuse the Mohan administration of approving a coal mine close to the Banawag‑Anchanakmar tiger corridor in Umaria, demanding the NTCA’s warning and report be made public.
The state government of Madhya Pradesh has granted clearance for a new coal mining project in the Umaria district, a location that lies adjacent to the Banawag‑Anchanakmar tiger corridor. Environmental groups have warned that the mine could disrupt the habitat of the region's endangered tigers.
Congress leader Jitu Patwari, the state party president, took to the social media platform X to denounce the decision. He accused the Mohan-led administration of ignoring ecological safeguards and prioritising mining interests over wildlife conservation.
Patwari called for the National Tiger Conservation Authority’s (NTCA) warning and its detailed assessment to be released publicly, urging the government to reconsider the project in light of the corridor’s sensitivity.
