The Indian National Congress is focusing on regaining the backing of Backward Classes in Telangana as the state prepares for upcoming MLC and other elections.
The Indian National Congress has announced a renewed outreach drive targeting the Backward Classes (BC) community in Telangana ahead of the forthcoming Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections and other scheduled polls. Party officials said the strategy will involve a series of meetings with community leaders, highlighting past welfare initiatives and addressing local grievances that have affected BC voters.
Congress spokespersons emphasized that rebuilding trust with the BC electorate is essential for the party's performance in the upcoming contests, which are expected to be closely contested. The party plans to showcase its commitment to social justice and inclusive development through targeted campaigns in key districts.
Analysts note that the BC vote has traditionally played a decisive role in Telangana's electoral outcomes. By focusing on this segment now, Congress hopes to narrow the gap with rival parties and improve its prospects in the MLC race and subsequent assembly elections.
