Anurag Saikia told Mid‑Day that he prefers modest projects, calling himself the safest composer in Bollywood.
Veteran music director Anurag Saikia spoke to Mid‑Day about his selective approach to film projects. He emphasized that he does not actively pursue high‑budget, star‑driven movies, preferring assignments that align with his creative comfort zone. Saikia described himself as "the safest composer in Bollywood," suggesting that his track record reflects reliability rather than chasing commercial hype.
The composer, known for his work on films such as "Margarita with a Straw" and "Mohenjo Daro," said his focus remains on delivering music that serves the narrative, irrespective of a film's scale. He added that the industry respects composers who maintain consistency, and he aims to uphold that reputation.
Saikia's remarks come at a time when many music professionals are courting big‑ticket projects to boost visibility. By positioning himself as a steady, risk‑averse creator, he signals a deliberate career strategy that values artistic integrity over box‑office allure.
