Cold wave hits Kodagu and Hassan as temperatures plunge
Temperatures fell sharply in Madikeri and the hill regions of Hassan, with dense morning fog signalling early winter conditions.
The Karnataka Meteorological Department has recorded a sudden drop in temperatures across the hill districts of Kodagu and Hassan, marking the onset of a cold wave in the region.
The rapid cooling has been linked to the influence of pre‑monsoon showers, which have caused temperatures in Madikeri and the prominent hill areas of Hassan to fall sharply. In the early hours, dense fog enveloped the terrain, further accentuating the chilly atmosphere.
The combination of falling temperatures and thick morning fog has created an early winter feel in the affected districts, prompting residents to experience unusually cold conditions for this time of year.
