Security personnel in Manipur's Senapati district have initiated a Cobra operation, complemented by a house‑to‑house search drive, after a spate of violent clashes and gunfire were reported in the area. Officials said the operation aims to locate weapons, illegal arms and any individuals involved in the recent unrest.
The escalation began when local reports indicated armed confrontations between rival groups, resulting in several injuries and the discharge of firearms in residential neighborhoods. Law‑enforcement agencies responded by cordoning off affected villages and deploying additional troops.
In addition to the searches, checkpoints have been set up on major routes entering and leaving Senapati, and curfew orders were imposed in certain pockets to prevent further escalation. Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the ongoing investigations and assured that normalcy will be restored once the security sweep is completed.
