Coal India has reported a 19% jump in coal output as mining operations recover from the monsoon‑induced slowdown.

Coal India Limited (CIL) announced that its coal production rose by 19% as mining activities rebound from the disruptions caused by the recent monsoon season.

The monsoon period had led to flooding and waterlogging at several of CIL’s mines, causing a temporary decline in output. The company’s management attributed the recent surge to the resumption of operations and improved logistics across its major coalfields.

CIL’s flagship mines in Jharkhand and Odisha have reported higher extraction rates, while the company has also increased its workforce and equipment deployment to meet the rising demand.

The 19% increase is expected to bolster India’s domestic coal supply, reduce import dependence, and support the power sector’s fuel requirements in the coming months.
