CM Vijay inaugurates Periyar Knowledge Centre, MK Stalin says he initiated project

Chief Minister Vijay presided over the inauguration of the Periyar Knowledge Centre, a new public facility aimed at promoting research and learning about the legacy of social reformer Periyar. The ceremony was attended by local officials and members of the community, who highlighted the centre’s role in providing resources such as a library, digital archives and exhibition spaces.

During the event, former Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin stepped forward to claim that the idea for the centre originated from his administration. Stalin said the project reflected his long‑standing commitment to preserving Periyar’s contributions and urged the current government to continue supporting educational initiatives.

The Periyar Knowledge Centre is expected to serve students, scholars and the general public, offering programmes, workshops and collaborations with academic institutions. Officials said the centre will be operational year‑round and will host regular events to foster dialogue on social justice and rationalist thought.
