Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a fleet of 200 electric buses in Delhi and announced the revival of the Ladies Special service, aiming to boost green public transport.
Delhi – Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today flagged off a batch of 200 electric buses as part of the capital's push for cleaner public transport. The ceremony, held at a major bus depot, marked the latest addition to Delhi's growing electric fleet.
The newly launched e‑buses will operate on existing routes, supplementing conventional diesel buses and helping the city meet its emission‑reduction targets. Officials said the deployment aligns with the government's broader agenda to shift urban commuting to zero‑emission vehicles.
In the same event, the CM announced the revival of the Ladies Special service, a dedicated bus line that caters exclusively to women commuters. The service, which had been suspended earlier, is expected to resume on key corridors within the next week.
Rekha Gupta emphasized that the combined initiative reflects Delhi's commitment to sustainable mobility and women's safety in public transport. She urged citizens to adopt the electric buses and take advantage of the dedicated women‑only service.
Transport authorities plan to monitor ridership and performance of the e‑buses closely, with the aim of expanding the electric fleet further in the coming months.
