Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched 100 new mini‑bus services in Patiala, announcing jobs for 150 drivers and operators.
Punjab's chief minister, Bhagwant Mann, arrived in Patiala today as part of his statewide outreach tour. He presided over a ceremony where the government unveiled a fleet of one hundred brand‑new mini buses intended to augment local public transport.
The mini buses, each bearing a green flag to signify their eco‑friendly credentials, are slated to commence operations on key routes within the city and surrounding areas. Officials said the addition will ease commuter congestion and provide a reliable alternative to existing services.
In conjunction with the vehicle rollout, the state government announced recruitment of 150 drivers and operators. The employment drive aims to generate immediate job opportunities for local youth and support the operational needs of the expanded fleet.
State transport authorities highlighted that the initiative aligns with Punjab's broader objectives of modernising its transit infrastructure while tackling unemployment. They indicated that training programmes will be organised to ensure the new workforce meets safety and service standards.
The launch reflects the administration's focus on combining mobility improvements with livelihood creation, a dual priority in its development agenda.
