A municipal cleaner was trapped and burned to death when a vehicle carrying electric bikes caught fire after a collision in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

A vehicle loaded with electric bicycles collided with another vehicle on a busy road in Kanpur on Tuesday, triggering a massive fire. The crash caused the fuel tank to rupture, and flames quickly engulfed the cab where a municipal cleaner was seated.
The cleaner, who was on duty cleaning the roadside, was unable to escape the blaze and suffered fatal burns. Emergency services arrived within minutes, but the intensity of the fire prevented rescue teams from reaching him in time.
Police and fire officials have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the collision and whether safety regulations for transporting e‑bikes were breached. The incident has raised concerns about the handling of electric vehicles on Indian roads.
Authorities have urged transport operators to follow proper loading guidelines and for drivers to exercise caution, especially in congested urban areas.
