A protest sparked by a social‑media post about Dera Sachkhand Ballan turned violent in Adampur, Punjab, with demonstrators encircling the local police station and creating a traffic jam.
Police in Adampur, Punjab, reported that a crowd gathered after a post concerning the Dera Sachkhand Ballan community was circulated online. The protesters, angered by the content, marched towards the town's police station, surrounding the building and blocking the main road. Law enforcement officials attempted to contain the situation, but the jam persisted for several hours, disrupting normal traffic flow.
Witnesses said the demonstrators shouted slogans and demanded the removal of the offending post. Several vehicles were forced to halt as the crowd formed a human barrier around the police outpost. No injuries were reported, but the police deployed additional personnel to restore order.
Local authorities have launched an inquiry into the source of the post and are reviewing whether any legal action will be taken against those responsible for inciting the unrest. The incident highlights the sensitivity surrounding religious and community issues in the region.
The police station resumed normal operations after the crowd was dispersed, and traffic gradually returned to regular patterns. Officials urged citizens to refrain from spreading unverified content that could provoke communal tension.
