Clash erupts between Anant Chaturdashi and Jain processions in Bundi over route dispute

Bundi, Rajasthan – On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, a procession organized by the Jain community and a Ganesh Visarjan Shobhayatra converged on the same route in the town of Nainwa. The overlap sparked a dispute over the right of way, and tensions escalated when a tractor driver from the Ganesh procession was slapped by participants from the opposing side.

Following the incident, members of both processions staged a sit‑in protest on the road, chanting slogans and demanding that the other group vacate the path. The standoff continued for several hours, drawing a sizable crowd of onlookers.

Local police responded by deploying Japtas (mobile police units) to restore order and prevent further violence. The authorities urged both parties to resolve the matter peacefully and to adhere to the scheduled routes for religious events.

No injuries were reported, and the police have opened an inquiry into the assault on the tractor driver. The incident highlights the challenges of managing overlapping religious processions in densely populated towns.
